Everyday Style @ Shenanigans Central: Trenery

In today’s edition of Everyday Style @ Shenanigans Central, I’m thrilled to be showcasing some great basics and a couple of versatile new season show stoppers from Trenery, a brand I feature regularly here on the blog.

As many of you know, Trenery is an Australian brand which was created in 2009 from the team behind Country Road.

What Trenery does so well, I think, is to create luxury in the every day.

From basics such as a simple tank top and jeans through to jackets and dressier pieces, I know I can rely on Trenery to find that illusive balance of quality and modern style.

I know I’ll find beautiful fabrics sourced from all over the world from cotton and linen through to cashmere, silk and leather.

And then there’s the details.

The designers at Trenery  – and yes, I’ve heard them speak before – love details. They notice and take care of the little things like buckles, linings, zips and even the colour of the stitching.

It’s the details like these that, as a lover of fashion and good old fashioned craftsmanship, I notice and appreciate. I go mad for a great lining, a well cut basic, an interesting detail or a new take on a classic that is done beautifully. This is what really sets Trenery apart for me.

I’ve been fortunate enough to have been given some great pieces from Trenery’s new Spring range. And I know that each piece that I’m wearing below, will be on high rotation for me this Spring/Summer.

And I’ll tell you why.

It’s because they are modern updates of classics that will work in anyone’s wardrobe.

If you work from home (caring for kids or for yourself) for all/part of the week, I’ve got a great pair of jeans, a great tank and an every day dress for you.

If you spend all/part of your week working outside your home and are looking for some versatile but on trend pieces to rejuvenate your existing work/smart casual wardrobe, you will love the jacket and wedges I’m about to show you.

And, you could even hook yourself up with one or several of these pieces if you enter the competition at the end of this post, as there are three $250 Trenery vouchers up for grabs. So there will be three winners. How fab is that?

Even better, Trenery is currently running it’s Spend and Save promotion  ($50 off when you spend $150 OR $100 off when you spend $300) until Sunday 23 August 2015, so your dollars will go even further.

So, without further ado, let me show you outfit numero uno.

SnS Trenery Outfit #1 - Full Length Gate

I’m wearing the Modern Tank* in size M, $29.95, Slim Boyfriend Jeans (Denim)* in size 12, $129.00, Drape Waterfall Trench* in size M, $249.00 and the Elen Wedge in black,* size 40, $199.00.

Let’s begin with the jeans.

As a devotee of the skinny jean, I’ve been a late adoptor in the boyfriend jean department but not for lack of trying – it’s because I haven’t found the right pair for me.

Until now.

It turns out a slim boyfriend style like these are most flattering on me, even in the lighter denim which is harder to pull off and usually less slimming on me than darker styles.

This pair tapers in all the right places but is not too tight overall, giving them a relaxed, more casual look. They sit quite a bit lower than my high waisted jeggings, but this style suits a more relaxed, slouchy look and as the fabric doesn’t cut in, there are no muffin issues to worry about.

I’m wearing a size 12, so I’d say they are true to size. They are available in sizes 4 – 18, and all sizes are available online.

While boyfriend jeans are an obvious option for every day casual (and you can see me wearing mine casually here and here), below I’ve paired them with a couple of dressier pieces – the Drape Waterfall Trench and the Elen Wedges – to take them from day wear to smart casual/evening territory and show their versatility.

SnS Trenery Outfit #1 - Buckle Done

I confess that I have fallen in love with this Drape Waterfall Trench. It has key details (the flattering drape, buckle tie at the neck and silky viscose fabric) to make it a statement piece but it’s nod to classic trench styling keeps it on the classic side of the fickle fashion trend cycle.

The buckle detail is a simple but modern update too. I’ve worn mine buckled and unbuckled and I love how this simple detail totally changes up the look.

You can see how this Trench would slip easily into the work/dressier end of your wardrobe to be paired with tailored pants or a dress but it’s versatile enough to be worn with a pair of jeans too. Loving that.

SnS Trenery Outfit #1 Full Length

The Drape Waterfall Trench is also available in sand, a lovely neutral tone, in sizes XXS through to XXL. I’m wearing the Medium and it’s flattering, drapey cut means there is room to move size wise and if anything, I’d probably size down from my usual (I’m between an M-L usually in Trenery, depending on the cut).

Now on to these stunning wedges. How gorgeous are they? Admittedly, they are quite high (for me anyway) but the wedge and ankle strap provide support and that extra bit of confidence.

A decent wedge is an easy way to elongate legs too, so this is a fabulously flattering combo.

SnS Wearing Trenery Elen Wedges

These fab Elen wedges are also available in versatile nude (it’s on the blush pink side of nude) in sizes 36 – 42. I’m wearing size 40, my usual size, so I’d say they are true to size.

Now onto the second outfit.

SnS Trenery Outfit #2 No scarfClose Up

SnS Trenery Outfit 2- Tree Full Length

I’m wearing the Indigo Pique Dress* in size L, $119.00 and the Ceri Scarf,* $69.95, both from Trenery, Ambra opaque tights and my faithful Django and Juliette Sadore Black Leather ankle boots from Styletread.^

Made from 100% cotton, this is a great every day dress that can be dressed up or down.

The drop shoulder detail keeps this easy dress modern and interesting, without trying too hard.

The pique fabric, which reminds me of polo tops, is light and comfortable to wear. And while this dress is a relatively straight cut, it manages to flatter by skimming the hip/thigh area without clinging.

SnS Trenery Outfit #2 - ScarfClose Up

I’ve dressed it up here for warmth more than anything (it’s still high Winter here in Melbourne and it’s a lightweight cotton) but come Spring, this will be my go to dress for every day shenanigans with a pair of trainers.

In between times, it would also work well with leggings and ballet flats.

For some extra warmth and interest, I’ve added this lovely 100% wool Ceri Scarf. Again, this simple yet modern monochrome check makes for easy, versatile styling and would work back with most Winter wardrobes.
