SnS Style Update: Shades of Grey

If you’ve spent any time flicking through the autumn/winter 2014 catalogues or browsed in stores lately, you’ll know that grey is EVERYWHERE.

It’s good news people. Unlike some other trends, you can’t go wrong with grey.

In my book/wardrobe, grey is a most versatile neutral. It works well with other wardrobe basics including denim (especially lighter, chambray styles), black and white. It is also the perfect back drop for pops of acid yellow, bright blue and all shades of pink to brighten up an otherwise understated look.

I’m also a fan of grey’s ability to look relaxed and chic by day (think marles, jersey and fine wool for casual tees, pants and knits) and glam by night with metallic or textured finishes.

Below are a few of my faves from the new ranges. You’ll find some practical basics, statement pieces, updated accessories and some fabulous shoes.

Style and Shenanigans Grey @ Home

1. Batwing T-Shirt, $49.95 from Country Road;  2. Pendant, $42 from Danidot Design at Down That Little Lane; 3. Foil Spot Sweater $129.95 from Seed Heritage; 4. Nordic Birds Scarf in Pearl Grey, $29 from Brown Paper Packages; 5. Drop Waist Knit Dress, $20 from Target; 6. Charcoal Mid Rise Jeggings, $99.95 from Country Road;  7. Tayla Ankle Boot, Grey, $199.00 from Country Road; 8. Amber Sneaker, $59.95 from Seed Heritage.

In the workwear picks, I have selected pieces that can transition easily from work to evening and more dressy day time do’s. For those of us who need to dress more formally for work or work part time, such flexibility is a must and a way to get more mileage from those often more expensive “work” clothes.
