It’s no surprise – around these parts anyhoo – that I’m always on the look out for fabulous frockery.
Frocks that flatter.
Frocks that are fun.
Frocks that are easy to wear but still look the goods.
And with this unbelievably mild autumn we’re enjoying too, I’m still reaching for my frocks most days while my knits and jeans languish in my wardrobe. (A sunny 24 degree day on Mother’s Day weekend in Melbs is pretty much unheard of. Crazy town).
Given the mornings and evenings can be quite cool though, it needs to be a trans-seasonal frock – one with a heavier fabrication or longer sleeves than the usual high summer offerings.
Enter the new autumn range from Brisvegas based label, Adrift.
You might be familiar with Adrift because of their gorgeous resort wear. I’ve been wearing their beach dresses for years as they’re perfect for lazy days beside the pool or beach side. I now have quite the collection which I trot out every time I go on a beach holiday. I’m looking forward to reaquainting myself with them next month when I hit up Thailand too.
But I discovered recently that Adrift also stock fab trans-seasonal clothing (not to mention gorgeous boho home wares and accessories).
This came to my attention when, a few weeks ago, I spotted this stunning dress in Adrift’s Instagram feed – the Zoe Dress in Retro Green*, $129.95.
The rest, as they say, is history.
Wearing the Zoe Dress in Retro Green
I’m going to try really hard not to gush here but seriously, what’s not to love about this dress?
Flattering elbow arm length? Check.
Stunning statement print? Check.
Versatile style and shape to take you from a lunch date to work to cocktails? You bet.
Above, I’ve styled this dress for work – with pointed patent navy pumps (mine are from Boden, a few years back) but this dress would also work with a tan block heel or ankle boots (as Nikki from Styling You has done here), a neutral wedge or a great pair of sandals.
In fact it’s the perfect dress for a holiday if you’re looking for a dress to cover a range of different occasions. The fabric – viscose rayon fuget if you want to get technical – drapes beautifully and is complemented by the a-line shape which skims but doesn’t cling.
The only accessory I’m wearing is this beautiful teal peacock ring* from Nest of Pambula, which picks up the lovely blues and greens in the print.
You can shop more of the Nest of Pambula range at Birdsnest here.
Size wise, I’m wearing a size Medium and it hangs perfectly, so I’d say it’s slightly on the generous side size wise.
I love this elegant just above the knee length too.
The other dress that caught my eye when I had a look through Adrift’s new range is this beautiful embroidered dress – the Sayulita Dress in Navy*, $89.95.
Just quietly, I think it’s speaking to my inner Frida.
I’ve styled this dress with ankle boots above (Django & Juliette from last winter) and heels (Silent D from Style Tread) below to show how it can work with different shoes. Just add a denim jacket and a fringed leather bag and you’ve got everyday boho covered.
This dress is all about the details – the pretty embroidery creates plenty of interest, so I’ve my accessories to the bare minimum, while the relaxed scalloped sleeves are a feature and comfortable at the same time.
With a more substantial weight to the cotton rayon fabrication than your usual summer dress, this is a great option for mild autumn days.
This style is available in two sizes – you can shop size S/M here and sizeL-XL here.
I’m wearing the L-XL, which is in the plus size range. I prefer this style to be on the looser side, and as you can see, the L-XL is roomy but doesn’t overwhelm me so I’d say the cut is definitely on the neater side as I wear anything from a Small, Medium to Large in Adrift beach dresses and generally wear a size 12.
This dress is also available in black if that’s more your thing. You can shop the S/M here and the L/XL here.
Finally, here’s a fab deal for SnS readers – you can get 20% off your next Adrift order using the code VANESSA20 when you check out. Happy shopping and you’re welcome!
