Festive Green Frocks from Luxe to Less

With Christmas just two weeks away today – GULP – we’re hitting the business end of December.

With end of year catch ups and Christmas parties taking up most of our weekends – in a good way – I can already feel that the next couple of weeks are going to be somewhat of a blur.

In amongst it all, I’ve been on the look out for a dress to wear on Christmas Day.

And, as I’ve trawled through the shops, I’m finding myself consistently drawn to all the festive frockery. I don’t know if I’d notice if it wasn’t December, but it certainly seems to me that many fashion retailers have embraced the traditional festive colours of red and green in their high summer ranges. Maybe I’ve watched Elf one time too many!

Last week, I covered fabulous red frockery – you can catch up on that post here – and this week, I’m pleased to bring you a round up of some of the prettiest green frockery going around.

While green is perhaps the more muted of the traditional Christmas colour palette, it still packs a punch and is especially gorgeous in summer. I love the contrast of green paired with crisp white, dressed down with denim or dressed up with metallics for easy summer style. Tan or nude shoes and accessories are always a winner with all shades of green too.

From the boldness and intensity of emerald and teal through to the lighter and more neutral tones of pistachio and khaki, there really is a shade of of this on trend hue to suit everyone and in today’s post, I’ve rounded up eleven fabulous frocks (and one jumpsuit!), from luxe to less.

ABOVE, LEFT TO RIGHT: Diane Dress, $85 from Boden; Sleeveless Tie Dress, $119.95 from Witchery; Frill Hem Shoulder Tie Dress, $129.95 from French Connection; Usha Dress from Fate & Becker, $129.95 from Birdsnest.

ABOVE, LEFT TO RIGHT: Blues Collision Dress, $139.95 from Marcs;   Ocean Tie Dye Sophie Dress, $149 from Bohemian Traders; Sorrento Maxi by Naudic, $159.95 from Birdsnest; Dalia Dress, $239.20 (on sale) from Gorman.

ABOVE, LEFT TO RIGHT: One Shoulder Maxi, $149.95 from Witchery; Winona Mini Dress, $179 from Spell Designs; Pleated Mini Dress, $199 from Country Road; Green Silk Frida Jumpsuit, $270 from Mister Zimi.

Just a heads up on the fit of the Witchery One Shoulder Maxi above. This is a beautiful dress but definitely size down. I went from my usual 12-14 to a 10 in this style. It has plenty of volume and is oversized with a fabric belt to cinch in the waist so sizing down is no biggie – I did as I wanted to make sure the top fitted neatly and high enough at the back to cover my strapless bra.

I’ve also tried on the Winona Mini Dress from Country Road and it’s true to size – my regular size 12 was perfect in this above the knee style and the pale mint colour is just gorgeous, especially against silver jewellery and accessories.
