Welcome to the latest instalment of Everyday Style @ Shenanigans Central.
Today I’m wearing a couple of outfits that are my daily “uniform” on cooler autumn days – i.e. when the temp dips below 20 – skinny jeans; a knit/jacket over an easy tee; with comfortable flats.
It’s not rocket science by any stretch but it’s an easy, every day go to combo for me that works for anything from kinder duty, errands and appointments through to kids’ parties.
And as a busy mum, I need outfits that I don’t need to think about too much but look appropriate enough for whatever the day holds.
Here’s outfit numero uno …
The good news is that nearly all of these pieces (except my handbag and sunnies – both picked up at the Coach outlet in New York last year) are still currently available.
My love affair with Country Road’s mid rise jeggings continues. Above, I’m wearing the shorter crop length from the summer range which is perfect on me, despite my height, for flat shoes, with no cuffing required. They don’t appear to be online anymore, so check in store or shop the full length style here.
This Lazybones knit cardy – the Genevieve Coat – caught my eye as soon as I saw it online. Then, when I saw it in the flesh at Lark on my recent visit to Ballarat, it was a done deal. I’m loving the unique mixed aztec print and pretty colour combo and the reverse print on the inside.
As luck would have it, it’s 20% off today only at Birdsnest too – Wednesday 18th May – using the code ‘COSY20’.
In terms of it’s fabrication and warmth, although it’s 100% cotton, it has a reasonable weight to it, making it perfect for mild autumn days here in Melbs.
As you can see on me – I’m 5’9″ – it’s quite long and explains why it’s being marketed as a coat. It’s definitely a cardy for me though – albeit a long one – and I’m looking forward to wearing this over a cotton dress come Spring too.
This print also comes in a scarf too if that’s more up your alley.
Size wise, it’s on the generous side – I’m wearing the S/M.
Underneath, I’m wearing the Longsleeve Curve Split Top tee from Witchery – you might remember me waxing lyrical about them recently here.
If you’re looking for a soft, drapey tee that hangs but doesn’t cling, this is an absolute ripper. I’ve got three now (black, black and white stripe – which I’m wearing below – and the navy, above), thanks to recent storewide sales, and I’ve getting loads of wear out of them. I’d love to add the grey to my collection next.
Size wise, I initially bought this top in Large but swapped it as I prefer the neater fit of the Medium.
In the shoe department, I’m loving my leopard print Rollies. They are super comfortable and great every day, walking around the ‘hood shoes but they also add some interest to any outfit.
They’re also great to wear with all sorts of other prints – I’ve been mixing and matching my prints like nobody’s biz as usual – as you can see above and in this second outfit below. They just work with everything.
In terms of sizing, I’m wearing a size 40 in this style – my usual size but I’m occasionally a 41 in Rollies too, so perhaps size up if you’re in between sizes.
I’m getting loads of wear from this Face to Face jacket from Gorman, pictured above, too – it wasn’t cheap but like last year’s Garden of Eden Jacket which I’ve worn to death (which I’m wearing here), it’s working out well from a price per wear perspective.
I’m wearing the Country Road crop jeggings above too, just in black. You can shop the full length style here.
